Road to recovery
-
Generational Noor's Road to Recovery program includes Narcan training to equip the community with life-saving skills for responding to opioid overdoses, along with workshops on harm reduction, mental health support, and culturally sensitive counseling. The program also offers access to peer support groups, educational materials, and connections to local healthcare providers, creating a supportive and empowering environment for BIPOC individuals on their journey to overcoming substance dependency.

Generational Noor offers a variety of training programs designed to equip the community with essential skills and knowledge. Our offerings include Narcan training for overdose prevention, mental health first aid, and harm reduction strategies. We also provide specialized training for our Moms Group, teaching mothers from immigrant and BIPOC backgrounds these crucial skills to help them support their families and communities. These trainings aim to empower individuals and create a more informed, compassionate community.

At Generational Noor, our Moms Group is dedicated to fostering meaningful conversations and building stronger, healthier communities. We collaborate with various organizations to address critical topics such as substance use disorder, the importance of Narcan, and community support.
By embracing a two-generational approach, we create a safe space where participants can engage in open dialogue about parenting, communication, and overcoming stigma. These courageous conversations help break down barriers and foster understanding across generations.

Generational Noor collaborates with local rehab centers to provide culturally sensitive support for BIPOC individuals on their recovery journey. By partnering with these centers, we ensure that those seeking treatment have access to resources and services that respect their cultural and religious backgrounds. Our involvement helps bridge the gap between the community and rehabilitation services, making recovery more accessible and effective.

Generational Noor partners with local mosques, including the Lewiston/Auburn Islamic Center, Masjidu Salaam in Lewiston and Auburn, and Masjid Bilal and Masjid Al-Huda in South Portland. Through these collaborations, we provide counseling and workshops that address the intersection of faith, mental health, and substance use. These partnerships help create safe spaces within the mosques, ensuring that BIPOC individuals receive support that respects their cultural and religious values, while strengthening community ties and promoting overall well-being.

Generational Noor actively collaborates with local high schools, especially Lewiston High School, as well as programs like 4-H and the Black Student Union. Through these partnerships, we engage students in educational and outreach initiatives focused on mental health and substance use. Many of these students also participate in our mentor-mentee program, where they receive guidance and support from professionals in the fields they wish to pursue. Our connections with schools help create a nurturing environment that encourages youth to succeed academically and personally, while also fostering leadership and community involvement.
